Uber and Phoenix restaurants open as Uber expands into other metro areas
More than 20 new restaurants are opening across the US and Canada as the ride-hailing giant expands into new markets.
A handful of the newly opened restaurants will be open in Minneapolis, Seattle and San Francisco.
Uber says it’s targeting restaurants in urban areas with more than 100,000 people in order to reach a broader range of customers.
It plans to open as many as 20 new locations this year, with more opening in the coming months.
In the US, the company says it will open locations in the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta, Cincinnati, Detroit, Denver, Chicago, Atlanta and New York City.
Uber also announced it is expanding its service in London, adding a new “eats with Uber” app that allows customers to order and pay with a smartphone.
It says it plans to add a second “eates with Uber”-style app in the UK in the next few weeks.
Uber has expanded its food delivery business to new markets in Europe and Asia, and plans to expand the service to the UK.
